Is there peer-reviewed literature saying that transition is the best treatment for severe, persistent GID?

I'm looking for sources in the peer-reviewed literature that provide evidence for the efficacy of transual transition for those with severe, persistent gender identity disorder verses other treatments, such as psychotherapy.
